Team Ken Scheepers
For rotary fans, Ken Scheepers and his 1985 Mazda RX-7, and recently changing over to his brand new 2005 Mazda RX-8 were the torch holders in the All Motor Class. Scheepers was able to clock record setting times in the 1.3-liter, 2-rotor RX-7 with a best ever E.T. of 10.21 seconds and best MPH of 130.62 in the quarter-mile. After finishing second in the All Motor Championship by the closest of margins – eight points - in the semifinal round of the last race of the season, Scheepers is ready to lead the rotary attack again in the Modified Class with a renewed vigor and a new RX-8 race car.
2006: 6th Place NHRA Modified Championship, First 7 second ET in Richmond, VA. Career best ET of 7.76 second in final event in Pomona. December testing ET 7.601 at 175.31 mph. Only driver to compete in NHRA series since 2001 series inception. 2005: Debut the brand new 2004 Mazda RX-8, Captured 1st Modified win @ Moroso-2, Advanced to two final round appearances, #2 Qualifier & runner up at season final, 4th Place NHRA Modified Championship
2004: Captured No.1 qualifier award at season opener at Fontana; Advanced to the quarterfinals at Moroso for seasons best finish; Suffered a season-ending crash at Englishtown 1 but finished ninth in the Honda Tuning All Motor season points standings despite competing in only three events.
2003: Captured three victories en route to a career-best second place finish (By 8 points); Qualified No.1 four times; Clocked low E.T. of the race four times
2002: Advanced to three final rounds; Finished third in the Honda Tuning All Motor standings
2001: Advanced to first career final round (Houston); Finished third in Street Tire category
